History

We began running Angus cattle in 1988 in the Tantawangalo Valley, inland from Bega in southern NSW. Our commercial herd was based on Monaro bloodlines, with their recognised quality and hardiness from the tough environment there. Several of our bulls came from the Hazeldean stud near Cooma.

In 1992 we moved to our present location 20km from Binda and 40km from Crookwell on the South-West slopes of NSW.

In 2011 we started our Angus stud, Hidval Angus. We wanted the advantages for herd improvement of knowing estimated breeding values for important traits. Most of our first stud cows came from Bongongo Angus, north of Gundagai, and we have bought many bulls from there. Bongongo’s breeding objectives are compatible with our own and their cattle are acclimatised to cold winters like ours.
